Reviews Overview

Most Liked

Customers rave about the portion sizes at The Cod of Cove—meals are generous and satisfying. The regular cod and chips for £10.70 is a crowd-pleaser, balancing taste and value impeccably. Many reviews highlight the fantastic crispy batter that surrounds the fish, maintaining perfect texture without being greasy.

People also can't get enough of the hand-cut chips, lauded for their fluffy interior and golden exterior. Home-cooked sides, particularly the mushy peas and curry spring rolls, come highly recommended as flavorful companions to the main dishes. The warm and welcoming staff further enhance the experience, making every visit pleasant and personal.

Most Disliked

Some patrons note that while the food is typically excellent, there are occasional lapses in consistency during peak hours—especially on busy weekends. The dinner rush on Saturdays can strain the usually attentive service, resulting in longer wait times. This might not please those looking for a quick bite.

Additionally, a few customers wished for more options concerning condiments, specifically salt and vinegar, which they felt would enhance the overall experience. These minor critiques do not overshadow the many positive aspects, but they provide room for improvement to ensure the experience is consistently exceptional.

Really good fish and chips from this newly reopened shop. Good sized portions and reasonable value. Regular cod and chips cost £10.70. Very nice crispy batter on the fish, and good chips - cooked to a nice golden brown. Great service and food, highly recommended.

I don’t usually leave reviews, but this place deserves all the praise! From the moment I walked in, the staff were welcoming, friendly, and clearly passionate about what they do. The shop was super clean/tidy. I ordered the classic sausage and chips, and it was perfection. The sausage was beautifully golden and crisp on the outside, tender, and full of flavour on the inside. Not greasy at all ! just perfectly cooked. The chips were thick-cut, piping hot, and wonderfully fluffy . Portion sizes were generous, prices were more than fair, and everything was served fresh to order. You can really taste the quality of the ingredients and the care that goes into your meal Highly recommended!

Have had a takeaway twice from here now, i don't have one often but i had it twice in a week 😆 and i have to say its because the food is lovely imo. Amazing regular size cod, i shudder to think how enormous a large one would have looked lol. It was a nice golden colour, with crispy batter and fluffy fish inside, also love the chips and would say this is now the best chippi in Farnborough 😋 highly recommend!

Really good fish and chips, batter was perfect and fish was perfectly cooked, not soggy! Chips were perfectly cooked but would have been nice to be offered salt and vinegar. Son had battered sausage and said the batter was perfect. Will definitely be getting fish and chips more often :) nice to have a good local chippie.

The owner of this chips shop also owns the mens barbours across the road. Him and all the staff are amazing and try to remember everyone's name and create a family atmosphere. Food is great and always fresh. Can't praise enough.

Visited after the reopen. It’s the same team as the cafe and barbers so I knew I wouldn’t be disappointed. The food is as expected from a chippy. Really good portion size and tasty. The service was excellent, they are always supper friendly and can’t do enough for you. Food was served very quickly also. I would recommend this shop and I’m sure if you ask they will cook your food how you’d like it.

The food is great and nicely wrapped. The chips taste nice and you get a decent portion. The service was very welcoming and friendly, and a good ammount of space in the customer area, doesn't feel cramped, and seating available while you wsit, though i was served pretty quickly anyway. The only thing missing for me, was Spam Fritters, which i Hope they add to their menu, as it's one of my favourite mains in chip shops.
